Soluna City 2070: SEED Knowledge Transfer

Team: Sofia Argiriou, José Ignacio Durán González (Nacho), Kalyan Marripudagala, Hannah Goldenbogen

A speculative look at Soluna City (near Oslo, Norway), a community-centric, post-capitalist metropolis populated by climate migrants. The project features SEED, a smartwatch-docked drone system paired with translation earpieces, enabling the borderless sharing of skills and environmental monitoring.

Future Context (2070)

By 2070, climate collapse has drastically shaped life on Earth, leaving massive zones uninhabitable and forcing major global migration. Migrants from southern Europe and northern Africa have settled Soluna City, built near Oslo, Norway. The city uses former oil and gas structures to harness solar and wind energy, supporting a community-centered, post-monetary society.

Speculative Intervention

SEED is a smartwatch-integrated, multifunctional drone and earmounted translation companion. The drone features four micro-rotors, 360° cameras, soil/plant health monitoring sensors, and wireless data transfer. When inactive, it docks inside the smartwatch, which functions as a local, secure AI hub.
